Independently assessed and accredited
Smartmonies holds the Financial Education Quality Mark from Young Enterprise — the UK charity that has championed financial and enterprise education for decades.
Someone independent checked our work
Financial education is unregulated. Anyone can publish a worksheet, call themselves a money tutor, and start charging families. There is no requirement to prove that what you teach is accurate, age-appropriate, or effective.
The Financial Education Quality Mark exists to fill that gap. It is awarded by Young Enterprise, an education charity that works with government, the financial sector and schools across the UK, and it means a programme has been assessed against national standards for financial education by people with no stake in whether it succeeds.
We went through that process deliberately. We wanted the programme judged by educators rather than marketed by us.
How we were accredited
We worked through Young Enterprise’s resource development programme — a structured review carried out with their expert authors before any accreditation was granted.
Proposal and consultation
An initial consultation with Young Enterprise’s team, and a proposal shaped around what our programme set out to do.
Landscape analysis
Planning the resource against a needs analysis of what financial education already exists — and what is missing.
Content review
Their expert authors reviewed our lesson content and made recommendations on accuracy, structure and pitch.
Revision and authoring
We reworked the programme in response — sequence, language, and how each concept is introduced.
Testing with children
Lessons were tried, tested and refined through hands-on work with children, and reviewed by specialists in children’s psychology.
Quality Mark submission
The finished programme was submitted for assessment against the Financial Education Quality Mark standards, and awarded it.
What was assessed
Smartmonies appears in Young Enterprise’s public resource directory. We teach ages 7–11 — Years 3 to 6.
Who assessed us
Young Enterprise is a UK education charity working to give young people the skills, knowledge and confidence to make the most of their money and their working lives. It is part of Junior Achievement Worldwide, and is a registered charity in England and Wales (no. 313697) and in Scotland (no. SC054666).
Alongside its Quality Mark, Young Enterprise runs the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Education and convenes the Financial Education Forum — which is to say it is the body the sector itself looks to on this subject.
