The PAY360 Awards bring together the people who build the payments infrastructure the rest of us use without noticing: the banks, the fintechs, the processors, and the sponsors who fund it. It is an industry that has made moving money extraordinarily easy.
Which is exactly the problem worth talking about
Spending money has never been more frictionless. A tap, a face scan, a saved card, a buy-now-pay-later button at the checkout. For adults that convenience is mostly a good thing. For children growing up with it, money has quietly stopped being a physical object that visibly runs out.
That’s the gap Smartmonies works in. If money is invisible, understanding it has to be taught deliberately — it will no longer be absorbed by watching coins leave a purse.
Our thanks to the Payments Association and to the evening’s sponsors. It’s genuinely encouraging to see an industry that moves money at this scale taking financial capability seriously as part of the conversation.
Why we turn up to these things
Financial education for children is a small corner of a very large industry. Being in the room matters — it’s where the partnerships come from that let us reach families who would never find us otherwise, whether through an employer, a bank, or a charity.
If your organisation is thinking about financial capability for the families you reach, we’d like to hear from you. Corporate licensing →
